The City of Auburn Hills, under Public Act 198 of 1974, offers companies meeting certain criteria an opportunity to have their taxes abated for a specified number of years. The purpose of offering these tax abatements is to encourage the retention, through expansion, of businesses in the City; to encourage the development of Brownfield Redevelopment Areas; and to encourage the occupancy of formerly vacant buildings. The Tax Abatement Review Committee (TARC) was established to review each application for abated taxes and make recommendations to City Council for action.
The TARC is composed of one member of the City Council and four residents of Auburn Hills who are appointed by the Mayor with the agreement of Council. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month.
Tax Abatement Review Committee Members:
David DeClerck Steve Hottle Paul Landsberg Otis Newkirk, City Council Member
This Committee currently has one (1) vacancy.
Questions about the Tax Abatement Review Committee may be directed to Victor Bennett, City Assessor, at 248-370-9436 or via email at vbennett@auburnhills.org.
