The ZBA exists to grant variances from the strict terms of the Zoning Ordinance when a petitioner can present facts which legally justify a relaxation of Ordinance requirements. The ZBA is subject to the terms and conditions of the City's Zoning Ordinance and the State of Michigan City and Village Zoning Enabling Act. Four of the five ZBA members are appointed to staggered three-year terms by the Mayor and City Council. One member from both the Planning Commission and City Council are appointed by the Mayor and City Council to serve on the ZBA as a liaison. All ZBA members are residents of the City of Auburn Hills.
The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) meets on the second Thursday of each month. Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 1827 N. Squirrel Road.
