Halloween Trail – Costume Contest!
Thursday, October 23, 6PM – 7:30PM
Children ages 12 and under are invited to “trick or treat” down the Halloween Trail in Civic Center Park, visit the “talking pumpkin”, and enjoy a special Halloween craft and Spooky Stories inside the Community Center.  Special prizes will be awarded to little Ghosts and Goblins as they walk down the trail as the Grim Reaper picks out his favorite costumes.  This event is FREE to all children in costume.  Volunteers are needed to help with the event

 
Fall Festival in the Woods
Saturday, October 25 (10AM – 3PM)
Mark your calendar now for the annual Fall Festival at Hawk Woods Nature Center.  What could be more enjoyable than spending time with the family taking in Michigan’s beautiful fall?  Explore more about nature with your children as you visit activity stations from Project Learning Tree, a national model for K-8 environmental education.  Become a Michigan Nature Ranger by doing three of the following activities:  Leaf and Tree Identification, Make a Tree Cookie, Laminate your own wildflower bookmark, paint wildflower seeds along the pond, find 15 items from the Treasure Hunt list, and more!  Activities will be offered throughout the day.  Enjoy music by the Blue Water Ramblers, hay rides, farm animals, pumpkin carving, kettle chili, cider and donuts and more!  We are looking for local artists to display their pictures of wildlife and other nature pictures taken here in Auburn Hills.  To reserve a free pumpkin to carve (one per resident family), call the Recreation Department by October 1.  $4 per pumpkin non-resident or each additional pumpkin. Snowmobile Safety
Be ready for safe snowmobiling this winter.  Class is open to students ages 12 and up who wish to learn safe snowmobile operation, but is required for students ages 12-16 who want to operate a snowmobile with out direct adult supervision.  Must attend both classes and pass a written test to receive certification.  Taught by certified instructors from Snomads Snofari Club.

Breakfast with Santa Claus
Saturday, December 6, 10AM
Enjoy breakfast with Santa at the Community Center.  You’ll receive a surprise present as you enter.  After breakfast, have your picture taken with Santa and make a holiday craft and enjoy some holiday magic.  Register early, enrollment is limited.

How to Handle conflict and be assertive – Mother/Daughter Workshop!
Many moms and girls will do anything to avoid conflict so they are walked all over, they lose the relationship, or they talk about that person behind their back.  Learn how to be assertive, why conflict is a normal and healthy part of relationships.  Craft and role plays included.
