VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND
Volunteers help in many areas of our programs.  A volunteer’s gift of giving reaches out beyond the walls of the Community Center.  Great opportunities for families, students seeking community service hours and more.  Contact Teri Endean at 248-370-9353 to volunteer or for more information.
FOCUS HOPE & COMMODITY FOOD DELIVERY VOLUNTEER(S)
Volunteers are needed to deliver food packages to homebound seniors. Must be able to drive and lift 10 pounds.  
VIAL OF LIFE VOLUNTEERS 
This valuable program is sponsored by the Auburn Hills Police, Fire and Senior Citizen Services Departments.  The Vial of Life program is a paper emergency information system that is utilized by emergency personnel.  Register residents for this program.
BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING VOLUNTEER(S)
Volunteer(s) are needed to provide blood pressure screenings.  Bring your own equipment or use the Senior Services Department’s.  Volunteer will take blood pressure and record results.
MEALS ON WHEELS
Volunteer Driver's are needed 7 days a week to deliver meals to
homebound seniors.  By doing this you make sure a homebound senior receive a nutritious meal from the meal program.  We have weekday/week-end meal routes available.  What a great  opportunity for families, students, civic groups, churches, businesses, employees, and retired folks, to bring  sunshine to our homebound senior's.

Blood Pressure Screenings
Blood Pressure screenings by volunteers are available the second Monday and the fourth Wednesday of each month between 11:00 a.m. and noon.  No appointments are necessary.
 
Equipment Loan Closet
Durable medical equipment such as walkers, crutches, wheelchairs & bath stools.  There is no charge to borrow an item, keep them as long as necessary and return clean. Clean, working durable medical equipment donations are accepted.  Please call before bringing equipment in.
 
Food Assistance Program - Focus: HOPE & TEFAP
Food assistance program for income qualified individuals.  Income and/or age guidelines must be met.  For more information, contact Margaret Leonard at 248-370-9353.
 
Ask the Attorney
Local attorney Dana Wilson, will be at the center the fourth Monday of each month to assist with your legal questions.  Mr. Wilson donates his time while at the center.  By appointment only.  Call the center to schedule an appointment 248-370-9353.
 
Minor Home & Mobile Home Repair Program
The Minor Home & Mobile Home Repair Program is for age and/or income qualified residents of Auburn Hills, age 62 and older, who own their own home, and disabled individuals who require minor home repairs free of charge.  Minor Home repairs include but not limited to plumbing, electrical, and furnace checks.  To qualify for the program a homeowner must provide a current copy of homeowners insurance, proof of ownership, current copy of homestead property tax credit or recent income tax form.  To register stop by the Senior Services Department or call the center.
 
Medicare & Medicaid Counseling

Trained MMAP volunteers are available to answer your questions about Medicare, Medicaid, Long Term Care Insurance, Supplemental Insurances, Medicare Drug Discount Cards and more.  By appointment only.

 
SITE MEAL
Monday - Friday.  Suggested donation 60 and over:  Meal - Senior $3.00, Meal and a Salad - $3.50, Salad Only $3.00.  Under 60 $4.00 - Meal.  For more information call 248-370-9353.
 
Asian-Pacific Program
Asian and American seniors meet in an informal setting to learn English and exchange information about shared cultures.  Translator available.  Transportation for City residents.  For program information, call 248-608-0277.  To request transportation, call 248-370-9353.  Fridays at OPC.
 
Vial of Life Program

Knox Box Safety Program
A safe and secure way to help an elderly or disabled person stay in their home and enjoy independent living…using the Knox-Box Safety Program.  Participants in this program will have a secure lock box installed on the exterior of their home which contains a key to the home.  Only the Auburn Hills Fire Department personnel will have a master key to unlock this box to gain secure entry into the home in the event of an emergency.  This program enables emergency personnel to reach your loved one in the event that they are unable to answer the door themselves.  It also eliminates the need for a forced entry or dependence on a neighbor who may not be available for a key.  There are a limited number of boxes available free for low income residents or the Knoxboxes can be purchased at cost through the Senior Services Department.

Call for Help - Cell Phone Program
The Auburn Hills Senior Services and Police Department is sponsoring a free cell phone distribution program for seniors, disabled individuals and domestic violence victims.  Phones are programmed to reach 911 only.  For a free phone contact the center. Donations of old cellular phones are being accepted.
 
Transportation
Transportation available to city residents age 65 and older and disabled residents.  Donation - $2.00 one way.  For more information call 248-370-9353.  Same day service is not available.   
 
KIT- Keep in Touch
Do you know someone who could use a friendly hello each day?  We are recruiting volunteers to telephone area seniors who might benefit from a daily call.  KIT volunteers will make a daily call to someone who may live alone, recovery from surgery or just needs a check in.  Call for more information.  
 
Computer Donations For Seniors
Need to dispose of your old working computer?  Donations accepted for clean working computers 5 years old or less. This program matches a donor with a senior.  For more information contact the center
